You avoid processed foods, eat organically, and recycle on the regular. You may even choose to use non-toxic cleaning products in your home. But yet, when it comes to skin care you’ve been reluctant to take the plunge towards “natural-non-toxic-and/or-organic” products. Because while you like the idea of using clean beauty products, you like efficacy better, and the main question most people ask when it comes to natural products is – do they really work? The good news: Yes, they do work and dare we say, perhaps, better than some of their chemical laden counterparts. These #BondFavorites are cruelty-free and made with all-organic or a mix of organic and natural ingredients. Though, when it comes to ingredients it may count more what they leave out, such as: parabens, phthalates, sulfates and fragrances, to name a few. Read on for our current favorite natural and efficacious skin care picks.
Cleanser
Consistency is key when it comes to a cleansing oil. Too slippery runs down your hands, too thick pulls on the skin, but Maya Chia Supercritical Cleansing Oil offers just enough slip and simultaneous richness to dislodge makeup, debris and excess sebum. Be prepared to see red acne marks fade, sensitive skin soothed, and an overall healthy glow appear. And if you subscribe to the two step cleansing routine curtesy of K-beauty, follow up with Aurelia Miracle Cleanser to give skin the added boost of probiotic protection. (The micro good bacteria have been found to create a protective shield reducing inflammation, redness and acne.)
Face Oil
Face oils have blown up on the beauty scene, but two in particular have our praises for very different reasons. Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is highly active and if you read our Spotlight feature with founder, April Gargiulo, you’ll know it’s due to the use of an ancient wine making technique called – enfleurage. This level of intensity will combat signs of aging, hyper-pigmentation and red acne scars like Jon Snow at the Battle of the Bastards (what a scene!?). But it may not be right for the faint of heart or those with sensitive skin, as the 22 active oils could cause irritation. For you sensitive skin ladies, we recommend reaching for our other love, Maya Chia Supercritical Omega Oil . When we’ve over exfoliated or tested one too many new products on our skin (the woes of beauty blogging), we reach for this antioxidant and omega 3 packed oil to soothe, re-hydrate and re-nourish skin. It never lets us down.
Mask
If you thought boosting skin moisture levels was only for winter time, think again. Summer months can leave skin just as parched from extra sun, chlorine, and traveling. Combat summer dehydration with Odacite’s Hydrating Mask. Let the aloe vera and antioxidant rich African Rooibos red, green and white teas soothe and reduce inflammation as an overnight mask after a day of margaritas and sun bathing; or give your skin a ten minute mask boost while watching Real Housewives. Either way, the blend of olive, jojoba and rose hip oils are sure to work their magic leaving you revived and dewy.
Body Oil
If you’re eating organic whole foods and applying Yuli Harmony Body Oil to your skin, you’re basically putting a salad in and on your skin. With ingredients like prickly pear, camellia seed oil, acai berry and French lavender – bright, healthy, glowing soft skin are sure to abound. The price tag on this small bottle of body oil gave us pause, but the insane skin beautifying benefits made us wonder why it isn’t priced higher. Just a thought. (Please don’t raise prices Yuli!)
