I’ve always shied away from lipstick preferring their gooey, shiny, plumping, gloss counterparts instead. Lipsticks just seemed too – mature? dry? flat? – but then along came Kosås’ line of sheer to full coverage lipsticks to make me a changed woman. The hydrating tints, besides looking pretty, protect against UV and environmental stressors; nourish with antioxidant ingredients, like green tea, rosehip and grape seed oils; are made without preservatives, fragrances or harsh chemicals; and come in universally flattering tints. One swipe of their poppy red lipstick with orange undertones known as, ‘Thrillest,’ and I was a convert – perhaps, devotee.
The Los Angeles based cruelty-free brand, Kosås, launched earlier this year by founder, Sheena Yaitanes, and brings cool girls everywhere what they’ve been searching for – lip nourishing, long lasting, wearable colors that go from daytime sheer to saturated nighttime glam with a few quick swipes. What started out as four signature colors has quickly expanded to include eight lipsticks any skin tone or attitude can rock. The range of lust worthy tints includes: boysenberry ‘Royal’, raspberry ‘Electra,’ earthy red ‘Fringe,’ and plum ‘Darkroom,’ each aching to be paired with strong brows and fresh skin a la Parisian chic; two subtle nudes, ‘Stardust’ and ‘Undone,’ where hints of peach and rosewood inject a demure air to any daytime look; the innocent gamine’s blushing pink ‘Rosewater’; and my favorite ‘Thrillest.’
These lipsticks will protect and nourish, and the semi-matte full coverage tints will last through a meal or two.
