[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Korean overnight sleep masks are a great way to maintain hydrated skin. When applied before bedtime, they create a moisture barrier that seals in hydration and nutrients, helping repair damaged cells while you sleep (cell growth has been found to thrive in moist conditions).
In this edition of #FaceOff, we compare two Korean sleeping masks – The History of Whoo Honey Ginseng Sleeping Mask versus Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque. Let’s see who comes out on top.
The History of Whoo Honey Ginseng Sleeping Mask
Recommended skin type: normal to dry skin types, dehydrated or acne prone
Texture: thick, creamy to smooth feel after application
Scent: sweet, moderate intensity
Active ingredients:
Ginseng – Used for medicinal purposes in Asia for centuries, Ginseng has been shown to sooth tired and stressed skin, reduce inflammation, and promote collagen synthesis.
Honey – A hydrating antioxidant, honey allows moisture to penetrate deeply into the skin, while clarifying and preventing skin imbalances. The natural antibacterial properties and enzymes in honey keep pores clean, prevent bacterial buildup and reduce inflammation.
What it says it does: “Nutrient intensive, this mask hydrates dry and undernourished skin making it healthy and moist again.”
What it actually does: After one use skin appears smooth, plump and hydrated. Redness appears reduced and breakouts less inflamed.
Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque
Recommended skin type: all skin types
Texture: gel-like, watery feel after application
Scent: fresh, herbal, light, barely noticeable
Active ingredients:
Ginseng – Used for medicinal purposes in Asia for centuries, Ginseng has been shown to sooth tired and stressed skin, reduce inflammation, and promote collagen synthesis.
Bamboo sap – Shown to strengthen and smooth skin, aid in cell regeneration, and draw moisture deep within the skin delivering rich amino acids and minerals.
What it says it does: “Diminishes the signs of aging and stress overnight. Stimulates the skin’s ability to retain moisture, not only on the surface, but throughout the layers of the epidermis. Increases antioxidant protection to fight free radicals.”
What it actually does: Morning skin appears smooth, fresh and hydrated.
Conclusion
While we love both Korean sleeping masks, The History of Whoo’s Honey Ginseng Sleeping Mask came out as the clear winner for its ability to clear up and help prevent breakouts in addition to hydrating the skin – perfect for sensitive, dehydrated, acne prone skin. But if you need something to add moisture and don’t deal with breakouts, Amore Pacific’s mask is worth a go.
