Death Becomes Her is still one of my favorite movies to date. If you haven’t seen the 90s flick, plan a Netflix and chill night for lots of laughs with Ms. Streep, Goldie Hawn and a young Bruce Willis. The plot pushes two glamorous Beverly Hills ladies (Streep and Hawn) past collagen injections and chemical peels and into the world of the undead. A powerful potion gives them eternal youth and beauty, but at a price. While it doesn’t end well for the two ladies (I won’t spoil it for you), I can’t help but enjoy the fantasy of a magic beauty potion. How nice would be if there was a simple pill or elixir to enhance your appearance?! Fantasy, yes, but maybe not so far from reality. A new wave of brands are tapping into this ‘beauty from the inside out’ demand and bringing forth products that are one step closer to a beauty potion. Read on for four brands offering beauty supplements in the form of teas, pills, and tablets.
8G
After battling Stage III lymphatic cancer at the age of 25, Dawn Russell, looked to nutrient rich greens to help aid in her recovery. The former Ralph Lauren model noticed both internally and externally (friends were commenting on her taunt glowing skin) the health benefits of her new diet.
From this experience, Dawn set out to create 8G; an effervescent tablet chock-full of greens (blue green algae, organic aloe vera, barley grass, spinach, kale, spirulina, chlorella and wheatgrass) that fizzles and dissolves into a glass of water like an Alka Seltzer tablet. Each tablet is a super boost of vitamins and nutrients, containing as much Vitamin C as five oranges, as much Vitamin B6 as 12 cups of peas, as much zinc as 10 cups of asparagus and as much Vitamin B3 as 27 cups of broccoli. Each tablet is sugar free and contains only nine calories.
While it’s not a substitute for eating your vegetables, it may be a great alternative to that high calorie green juice you’re sipping on that has over 26 grams of sugar.

111SKIN
Let me start by saying that this brand worked with aerospace scientists to create their line of products. Yes, rocket scientists. Without getting too technical, a recent study published by NASA reported that long-duration spaceflight and microgravity contributes to accelerated aging. When 111 Skin’s founder, Dr. Yannis Alexandrides, heard of this he sought collaboration with space scientists to develop skin care products based on antioxidant supplements given to astronauts.
In addition to the usual creams and lotions, this London based line offers a full spectrum supplement – Radiant Skin Beauty Dose. The supplement is based on those given to astronauts to help them combat environmental aggressors and internal stress to protect from rapid aging. By providing a healthy dose of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, zinc, and boosting levels of Glutathione, a powerful immune protecting antioxidant, just three pills a day are said to protect against environmental damage, stimulate the body’s ability to heal and repair, and maintain the health and vitality of the skin.
The best part, unlike other supplements that are not FDA approved, these are.

Miyu Beauty
Dealing with stress breakouts? Or maybe dry-lifeless-stressed-out-skin? Blame cortisol – the stress hormone that interferes with learning, memory, lowers immune function, makes you gain weight… The list goes on and on. Miyu beauty teas look to Traditional Chinese Medicine to use herbal teas to nourish the skin from within, de-stressing the body and providing a boost of antioxidants. Their two teas target different concerns. The De-Stress Mi Beauty Tea is made with soothing camomile, and licorice root (a natural anti-inflammatory), and peppermint (natural provider of Vitamins A and C). While the Hydrate Mi Blend is made with antioxidant rich green rooibos, goji berries and rose petals to improve circulation, fight free radicals and promote collagen to keep skin smooth.
Make a cup of tea, take a hot bath, and decompress from a long day. Your skin will thank you.

HUM Nutrition – Collagen Love Supplements
The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology published a report in 2015, that found oral supplements containing collagen and peptides significantly increased collagen levels in the skin (the stuff that makes your skin look plump and youthful) after only four weeks, and that the effects of the collagen supplements persisted after twelve weeks. If you’re already in bloodhound mode trying to find a collagen supplement online, you don’t have to go too far. Sephora stores now carry HUM Nutrition. The brand offers a range of beauty supplements, but their Collagen Love is what you’re after. The supplement contains three different types of collagen, peptides, and Vitamin C to keep your skin looking firm, supple and younger looking.
Can I get a hallelujah?! I think our prayers have been answered…
